Candy: We Are NOT Stupid! Thank You.

You keep harping on how stupid deaf people are for being unable to read the AB 2072. We understand the bill perfectly fine. It is YOU who don't get it or refuse to accept what it is all about. YOU always have been all about the medicinal perspective of deafness. All about SPEECH, ORALISM, HEARING LOSS, CI, and so on. We do expect you to stand in support for AB 2072 - no surprise here. That is what YOU are all about.

Please don't insult our intelligence by saying WE don't understand the bill, that it actually helps us, that it is for our betterment, that we misread the bill, that we misunderstand the bill. We ARE NOT!! Get it??

You just have a very low opinion of ASL/Deaf Culture centric community, and going against the bill means ASL/Deaf Culture will continue. You certainly don't want that. You'd love for this bill to pass so it will mean death of ASL and Deaf Culture. WE know that.

There are many HEARING people, including parents, college/university professors (who outrank YOU), education professionals (who also outrank YOU), and general public who wrote letters to the senators against this bill. THEY certainly can READ and understand the bill - better than you, apparently, that is, if you actually think this bill will improve the quality of life for the deaf (which I doubt).

The bill will be voted upon TOMORROW. I truly pray those letters to the senators will be read and heard! For this bill to be passed is just too scary to even think about....

  1. CAM, I am dismayed with Candy and her gang. They are always insulting our intelligence. What did we do to them to make them hate us so much?

OFC Candy is eager for AB 2072 to pass - it will promote her cause. For her to think she could put wool over our eyes is a joke.

  2. Canadians... more precisely... Ontarians are now going through the ramifications of legislation in Ontario that resembles bill AB2072.

Go to Youtube and see skyzavier's vlog which describes the experiences we are presently going through. Those are the consequences that will predictably befall California if that bill is passed. You are correct to be quite concerned.

Candy refuses to see that the bill is quite flawed, because she is of the mindset that to be more like the majority is better for Deaf children, when enormous evidence has pointed to the fact that it is harmful to deprive Deaf children from their rightful and most accessible language in favour of the oral ideology behind which the backers of AB2072 stand.

  3. Cam,

This is how political system works, money overrides morality.
Someone said that Candy had said that she will speak against Deaf hate crime for free. Wonder what she means be that.
Is Candy being paid to speak out to support the flawed AB2072 Bill?

  4. Thank you, Shel, regarding the Canadian's version...I recall something along that line on blogs on DR several years ago. I recall the deaf community trying to stop the passage of that bill - I presume from your comment that it failed to pass. I will view the vlog.

Deaf - Candy against Deaf Hate Crime? Not surprising. She hates anything deaf. Her getting paid to promote AB 2072? Not far-fetched...perhaps not paid but probably asked by the lobbyists of the companies who stand to gain from passage of the bill. For supposedly an intelligent woman, she was dumb for not recognizing an act of corporate capitalism when she gets asked or paid to promote their causes.

However, we don't know whether that they did - she could have done this all on her own passion for all we know.

  5. I believe Candy did get asked to act as a spokesperson for some companies in the past. Mostly related to CI. She did deny the allegations but there were strong supported evidence that she was "bought."

Notice how well written she is? I doubt she is "one of us." She speaks the hearing language. I question her as a member of the "deaf community."

  6. FYI, Candy is not being paid a dime by anybody connected with AB 2072.

  7. Ann,
    You don't speak for Candy.

  8. Anne,

Candy is DOD and indeed she is a member of the deaf community.

She has never been "asked" to act as a spokesperson for anybody, as she has a mind of her own. Just because she has an opinion different from yours does not make her NOT a member of the deaf community, where did you get that idea???

    Don't spread more lies, girl.

  9. To Deaf and Anne,

BTW, if you had been commenting on DR for the last three years you would know that Candy is DOD, fer pete's sake. She doesn't hide that fact.

She has never said that she hates the opponents of AB 2072, get over that. And no, she doesn't have a low opinion of the ASL/deaf culture centric community, far from it.

  10. Hi everyone,

If Candy is really the DOD. How come Candy never do any vloggings or post her picture for us to see who she is.

Candy is definitely an audist in many ways.

Many of us know how many pedophiles like to bring candies with themselves to seduce the poor kids. Candy is one of them.

  12. Ann,
Candy among with Barry Sewell, White Ghost, Mike McConnell, Paotie Dawson, Richard Roehm and their associates(like yourself-Ann) are the goofy gang and I don't care if Candy is a DOD because her parents could be just as goofy too.

  13. Deaf,

All I can say is that your choice of words reflect on you.

    RLM,

Candy is entitled to her privacy. Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson all wrote under pseudonyms to protect their identities during a trying time in our country's early history. And I wouldn't blame her for doing so, as your National Enquirer style is over the top, per usual. ;)

  14. Ann C,

All the choice of words with yours among with Candy, Barry Sewell, White Ghost, Mike McConnell, Paotie Dawson, Richard Roehm and their associates reflects upon yours and themselves.

That reflection ideology is Barry Sewell's way of wiping the egg of his and your face.

  15. Hold on, guys.

I think it best that personal bashings, allegations without proof and namecallings cease now as these things are not helpful. Let's stick to the topic, which was Candy's blog. The issue is with the tone in which Candy presented her posting... condescending. THAT is the issue here.

I disagree with Candy's view on AB2072 totally. We are polar opposites on that bill, and the tone in that particular blog post does raise my hackles. I think she could have addressed it more diplomatically IMHO.

She thinks AB2072 would help with the presentation of information (including ASL) in a neutral way. From an Ontarian perspective, that neutrality DOES NOT EXIST. I have debated this with Candy in a couple of my blogs.

Sorry, but from my Canadian perspective, BILL AB2072 is about the furthest thing from a neutral bill, especially when one considers who the driving force behind that bill is... certainly not Mendoza. He's the politician pushing the bill, but look at the people who are pushing him. See Danielle Reader's vlog. (She's the mother in the vlog where the parents described their meeting with Mendoza and their experience with the medical establishment)

  16. Deaf,

I'm not Barry, or WG, or McConnell, or Paotie, or RR, or Candy and "all their associates". I have my own mind and have the right to express my thoughts.

Truly, goofiness becomes you when you can't come up with a better and rational argument for opposing AB 2072 than attacking your opponents.

  17. Ann C,

True of my limitation of using English words but your limitation of fluency in ASL is just as bad, guess we reflect each other perfectly.

  18. Deaf,

You're writing in perfect English. Who said anything about limitations? Wasn't me.

  19. Candy is a DOD? That's SAD! So is Barry Sewell. I understand he is also a DOD. I really don't get those people. I do question the true identity of Candy since nobody really seem to know who she is, really. Mike O'Connell - predictable. He grew up among hearing people and was introduced to deaf community late in life.

If Candy IS DOD, then I have to draw the conclusion that her parents are. hmmm, for lack of better word, low function. That would trigger an intelligent deaf child's anger towards deaf community because of the way her parents are. Perhaps the same is true for Sewell...although I am not sure about the educational career of his parents.

I am a DOD myself AND my parents were not of higher education. My mother entered school for deaf at age of 16 and graduated with 3rd grade education because her mother did not want to send her to a residential school 2 hours away. Faced with academical failure at public school, she was forced to send her away. My father was well educated and passed the entrance exam at Gallaudet but could not afford it - no VR, school loans or grants his time. I could have turned out like Candy or Sewell due to my mother but I don't...because if not for the school for deaf, my mom would be imbecile and hidden away at her parents house to be watched over for the rest of her life. She'd never had a life. She'd never had met my father and married him. I cringe at the very scenario where my grandmother would stubbornly keep mom at public school with no ASL. YIKES! Yes, AB2072 must not pass! They prey on people like my grandmother.

  20. Shel is right - there is no point in bashing - nothing will change their minds. The purpose of my post is to tell Candy to go crawl under a rock and stop harping that we are not understanding what AB 2072 is all about. I really hate it when people tell us we can't be understanding something correctly just because we are deaf and English is not our first language. Just go crawl under a rock, Candy, and Barry, you too. I saw your blog post in refernce to mine.
